T. F. (Ted) Koskie, B.Sc., J.D.
Managing Lawyer / Arbitrator / Referee / Mediator
Ted Koskie is the founder and managing lawyer of Koskie Law, a trusted legal practice in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. With over 40 years of experience, Ted provides expert counsel in business transactions, labour relations, and trial and appellate advocacy. His practice also encompasses a wide range of public sector issues, including government, public utilities, and health care. Ted has appeared before all levels of court in Saskatchewan, federal tribunals, and the Supreme Court of Canada on leave applications.

Ted is a highly regarded arbitrator and mediator, a key focus of his practice. He serves as a sole arbitrator and chair of arbitration boards under various collective agreements. Ted is a member of the panels of arbitrators for the Saskatchewan Minister of Labour and the Canada Minister of Labour. In these roles, he acts as a grievance arbitrator, unjust dismissal adjudicator, and wage recovery referee under the Canada Labour Code. His reputation for impartiality and effective dispute resolution has made him a sought-after adjudicator under both provincial and federal jurisdictions.

Ted holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computational Science and earned his J.D. from the University of Saskatchewan. Before pursuing a legal career, Ted worked as a systems analyst, a role that honed his analytical and organizational skills. He was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1981.

Recognized for his professional and community contributions, Ted received the Cam Partridge Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award from the Public Legal Education Association of Saskatchewan in 2018. He has served as a faculty member at numerous legal and community seminars, presenting on topics such as marketing, file management, and communication strategies.

Ted’s commitment to community service is evident in his leadership roles with organizations such as Saskatoon Services for Seniors, Persephone Theatre, the Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Centre, and the Community Service Village. While his Métis heritage is an important part of his identity, Ted integrates it naturally into his practice, reflecting values of fairness, collaboration, and respect.

Outside the office, Ted is an avid supporter of live theatre and music, enjoys golf, and treasures time spent with his three daughters and seven grandchildren.
Coleman Owen, B.Comm., J.D.
Barrister & Solicitor
Coleman holds Bachelor of Commerce and Juris Doctorate degrees, both from the University of Saskatchewan. He was the recipient of numerous awards and accolades during his studies. Most notably, Coleman was the 2019 recipient of The Honourable John Klebuc and Veronica Klebuc Access to Justice Scholarship, which is awarded to students who demonstrate their commitment to access to justice issues.

Coleman was admitted as a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan in 2021. He joined Koskie | Law in 2022 and maintains a general practice.

Coleman is a lifelong resident of Saskatoon; he enjoys the City's wonderful art community and its perennial beauty. Outside of the office, Coleman can likely be found at one of Saskatoon’s local bookstores or cafés.
Karen Aburto, J.D., LL.M.

Karen Aburto is an enthusiastic and results-driven lawyer at Koskie | Law, committed to delivering exceptional legal solutions tailored to each client’s needs. With a diverse legal background and a passion for navigating complex legal challenges, Karen brings valuable experience in corporate immigration, business law, and administrative support.

Prior to joining Koskie | Law, Karen worked as a Student-at-Law and Interim Lawyer at EY Law LLP in Calgary, where she managed a high-volume caseload and provided strategic legal advice to corporate and individual clients. Her ability to handle intricate legal matters with precision and professionalism has earned her a reputation as a trusted legal advisor.

Karen’s legal journey began with her Juris Doctor from the American University Law School in Nicaragua, followed by an LL.M. in Canadian Common Law and Business from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. She is called to the Bar in both Alberta and Saskatchewan and is fluent in Spanish, enabling her to serve clients in multicultural and multilingual contexts.

In addition to her legal expertise, Karen is committed to community involvement, having volunteered with organizations such as the Calgary Drop-In Centre and Toronto’s Light Patrol. She brings her dedication to service and her collaborative spirit to every aspect of her work at Koskie | Law.

Outside of the office, Karen enjoys exploring new cultures and connecting with people, which complements her global outlook and adaptive approach to legal practice.
